From Minnesota to the Rainforest

Hello friends/family! We had a long, fun, day of travel. We landed early in Atlanta which allowed us to eat some “breakfast.” This breakfast consisted of Panda Express, McDonalds, and Caribou. We then boarded the plane to land in Liberia, Costa Rica.  Once we got off of the plane, we boarded two buses that we took to eat lunch in Liberia. After eating a delicious hamburger lunch, we started our two-hour road trip to Finca la Anita.

When traveling we passed through three microclimates. These microclimates included, dry forest, cloud forest, and finally the rain forest. While driving, we saw animals including multiple toucans, a donkey walking down the middle of the road, and also a herd of cattle walking on the side of the road.

We all received a pair of rubber boots and got our cabin assignments when we got to Finca la Anita. Once we were all situated, we decided to go on a quick hike before dinner. After the hike, we ate fish with pesto and veggies. The power went out when we were eating dinner so we made our own candle lit dinner table with candles, flashlights, and water bottles, showing how creative our Vis group is. Now we have some time to unwind and listen to the calming sounds of the rainforest.

So far, the sights have been beautiful! We will all have plenty of pictures to show all of the parents when we get back!

 Until tomorrow’s blog, much love,
